nivas_dsr
I am using Retrospect server version 5.0.236, with Mac OS 10.1.5, and we made sure that we have selected the options "Match source files to catalog" and "Dont add duplicates to backup set" and we are doing normal backup. We assumed that retrospect will be doing incremental backup. We are backing up 15 computers every night. We tried to test it by adding a few files to a folder (which is being being backed up every night) and we see it in the snapshot next morining, fine. we delete these files and next day we see if the backup has these files by trying to restore them and there was no snapshot for these files. i thought incremental backup means things deleted in our computers should be there on the backup even after many normal backup sessions and should not be deleted on the backup media on the next backup. We are sure it is set for normal backup and not recycle backup as we observed that it takes less time to complete the backup than it takes when it is being done first time. We are obviously more secure if we have deleted files of our file server and other computers on backup media for retrieval in case it is needed. can anyone help me out. AmyJ
The backup set catalog only retains the most recent snapshot for a given volume. Historical snapshots are stored on the media. Use the "Retrieve Snapshots" button for access to the older snapshots.
