Ext. Pioneer 105 and OS9 issues

I have a G3/333, with 512k RAM, running OS 9.2 and an external Pioneer 105 DVD-RW.

After installing the software that came with the drive...

I connect the drive via USB, and the system recognizes it in the System Profiler, and I'm able to play a DVD/CD.

But when I try to burn something the program I'm using (Toast 5.1) doesn't see it as a recording device.

I use the "find recording drive" function but it just says "nothing found please check connections".

I can't figure out why it's not seeing it? Is it something within Toast? If so is there another program I can use to burn? Is there something else I'm supposed to download? I'm stumped, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
