psorantin
I am currently running a quite lengthy backup (first) of a 75GB LaCie firewire drive to DVD-RW's (40GB of data) on a 400MHz G4 under 10.2.6. It seems to take quite long (10h?). I am wondering whether these is a way to exit Retro and then to resume later. I need to work in Photoshop and some other apps and I want the full CPU/memory resources. I would also prefer exiting Retro for a while, since its always possible that one of the apps could crash the machine and in any case I don't want to start my backup all over again. Pause seems not to offer what I want. Stop seems to be a total cancellation of the backup run with no way to resume. Help appreciated. The manual was no help on this. matre
My experience is primarily with tape, but even with tape, I can stop in the middle of a backup. When you're ready to re-run the backup script, Retrospect will compare the files it already backed up with the files on the drive, and just pick up where it left off.
