DavidBF
Creating a disaster recovery image file for WinXP generated an ISO of 685 MB (the CD limit is 650 MB). Is there a solution (e.g., moving some root directory files?), and if so, any specifics would be appreciated. Thanks.
Mayoff
Try selecting the i386 folder from the Windows CD, rather then one from the hard disk.
kaikow
During the process of creating the DR image, why doesn't Retrospect warn the user that the image is too large to fit on a CD-ROM?
DavidBF
Thanks for your suggestion. Given that I have installed numerous WinXP updates since the initial instalation, will creating the IS0 from my WinXP CD (i386 directory) limit or in any other way, affect the quality or completeness of a full system recovey using the DR backup? Mayoff
Using the i386 on the CD will not effect the restore, even if you have been installing Service Packs and updates.
DavidBF
I attempted to follow your suggestion (e.g., create the ISO image file using the i386 directory from the WinXP original (Dell) instalation disk). While the i386 directory is 508 MB on disk, the ISO image file created using it is 675 MB! - its still too large to fit onto a CD-R to create the DR CD. Is this simply an isolated anomoly in my case, or is this an oversight by Dantz? Any other suggestions (other than phone Dantz support)? Thanks. Mayoff
That is a little strange. You should be able to burn that CD to a 700MB CD without a problem.
