simonw
I have created a simple back-up script with cdrw destination: It runs with errors: I have examined the report and excluded two files that were reported i.e. *.dat files: It still runs with errors! Are there other files that I should exclude?? The source volume is a user profile in the Documents and Setting folder of Windows XP. Thanks in Advance, Simon, Cornwall UK

kaikow
When one runs a backup, all you can expect to get is a snapshot at a point in time, which is why you should turn off auntie virus software, and most other apps while the back up is running. The errors listed indicate that Internet Explorer was used during the backup. Just means that you do not get the latest instance of those files in the backup. None of those files really matter, as I find that you can manually delete the index.dat file in the Cookies directory and IE will rebuild the file when you next start IE. Indeed, I just did this a few daze ago, to clear crap out of the Cookies direc tory. simonw
Thanks Howard I have excluded the two files from the back-up in the "All Files " dialogue of the Back-up script. I still get the message saying "...ran with errors. Do you think I should exlcude all such files as there are likely to be several in the JaneR profile folder... TIA, Simon
kaikow
I see no reason to exclude the files. Just ignore the error messages.
