2GB Limit error in 5.1

Recommended Posts

These backups are from a Windows system using the 6.0 client. Under Retrospect Server 5.0, I backed up the file (2.7GB) on Monday with no problem. After installing 5.1, last night the same file would not backup and I received the warning about the file size being larger than 2GB.

What gives?

What, exactly, are you saying here?

Did you backup a 2.7 GB file on the Windows machine to a File Backup Set on the Macintosh?

-or-

Did you back up assorted data on the Windows machine to a File Backup Set on the Macintosh?

(you can see how your oritinal post was unclear...)

How is the hard drive on the Macintosh formatted?

My apologies, I was tired and rushed yesterday.

I have a file on a Win 2000 server (and no, the file is not in use) which is running the Retrospect 6.0.110 client. The file is 2.7GB in size (a single file). Previously under the Mac version of Retropect Server version 5.0, I could back the file up.

I installed version 5.1 of Retrospect Server for the Mac, and now I get an error: "Can't read file <filename>, error -24240: (File greater than 2 GB), Path: <file path>".

This is also happening on another machine (Win 2000, 6.0.110 client) where the file size is is around 6 GB.

I am backing this file up to a File Backup Set on very large hard drive (plenty of free space). All of the other backup scripts (100 or so) still run fine.

I went to the Reports section (Contents) and checked the contents of the File Backup Set to see what the file size was on the files that were backed up under version 5.0 of Retrospect Server, and the file size was 2.7GB.

I then went to the Configure section (Volumes) browsed the client, and it shows that the file size for the file is 2.0 GB, not 2.7 GB.

I have not had the opportunity to update the client version on the Win 2000 machine to the latest version.

Thanks,
