jfaughnan
I get the common error message on my backups that retrods.22 can't be backed up from a Mac client. Very annoying. In Dec of 2002 Dantz tech support wrote: applications/retroclient/retroclient.app/contents/resources/retropds.22 This is a Retrospect client file. This error can be ignored during the backup. If you do a complete system restore on a client getting this error, you may need to reinstall the Retrospect Client software following the restore. This problem will be fixed in a future release of the Retrospect Client. Amy Technical Support Dantz Development It's been 8 months. Any fix for Retrospect Pro 6.0? Mayoff
The 5.1 Retrospect client that is included with Retrospect 6.5 does not have this problem.
jfaughnan
Thanks, the new 5.1 Mac client does indeed include this fix. This leads into a few related problems with the Dantz web site: 1. This should be in FAQ. I believe it is not. 2. The current client installer, referenced on the 6.0 Pro page[1], contains the old installer with the bug. 3. There's no separate link on [1] to the Mac installer, only to the .EXE that contains all installers. If Dantz wants to do things that way they might decide to label that file as "all platforms". 4. I found the link to the new installer by searching the forum. 5. Have their been similar updates to the Windows client? I can't tell. Again, the client download package had not been updated. It's not that costly for Dantz to fix their web site, and fixing the Dantz support site may grow their user base by decreasing the number of unhappy users. Given the (very regrettable) state of the webmaster marketplace, Dantz should be able to afford a well maintained support site. john [1] http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=support_by_product&ACTION=SUPPORT_BY_PRODUCT&id=
