jwstulin
Hello: I am new to Retrospect running version 6.5 (trial version) off of Windows XP. I have hooked up through a local network an older system running WIndows 2000 (a Retrospect client). I am trying to back up the clients 7GB disk to a Sony DVD 4x writer on the XP system. My first attempt failed half way through the verify process with a error -519 network communications failure. The next attemp (onto a new backup set and fresh DVD-r disks) failed with a error -557 transaction already complete message while half way through backup up onto the first (of two) DVD's. While I somewhat understand the -519 error I am absolutele cluless about what the -557 means. My questions are: 1) Is Retrospect reliable? (after all I just had two failures in a row) 2) What the heck does -557 transaction already complete mean and how do I get around it? Thank you for your help, Jeff Stulin
Mayoff
The 557 error is basically another error similar to the 519 error. The 557 probably happened after and because of the 519. I would recommend restarting the client computer and server and attempt the backup again.
jwstulin
I rebooted both machines and the backup almost completed. But 5 minutes before the end of the verify pass (a three hour backup operation) I got error -557 again. Any ideas? Thanks, Jeff Stulin
durhamje2089
I've also been getting the error code on some of my clients. I called Dantz tech support and they said to change the options for the script to no longer force backup of Outlook files. This is located in the script options, more options, outlook and then it is the only checkbox on the page. This solution worked in my case.
