Logout without killing backup in progress?

New user here. I am using Retrospect Pro on a Windows 2000 machine, service pack 4. No client machines.

If Retrospect is performing a backup while I'm logged in, then logging out seems to abort the backup in progress. How can I logout without aborting the backup job?

Consider also the situation where a backup is in progress, and no one is logged in to my machine. If I log in, the Retrospect user interface appears immediately. Once again, if I log out, the backup job aborts.

Thanks in advance for any advice on this issue.
