rickd
I'm using Retrospect 4.3 on a mac os 8.6 machine to mirror several network drives to an external backup hd. The problem is that always some files aren't mirrored because they are in use by another program. Is there a posibility to mirror open files? Mayoff
Most files will need to be closed prior to backup. Database files are typically the most difficult to copy while they are open, and require closing.
rickd
Isn't there something like the open files agent for arcserve available for retrospect? Or would it help to buy a new version?
Mayoff
Open File agents do not exist on the Macintosh, they are Windows only tools. Retrospect for Windows offers an open file agent for Windows clients. On the Macintosh you would need to use an AppleScript or a tool like Quickeys to shutdown the open files prior to backup. If you can copy it in the finder while it is open, Retrospect can typically copy it while open.
