bpepper
**Machine Config:** G4 450MHZ, 768MB RAM OS X 10.2.6 Adaptec PowerDomain 29160 SCSI-3 Card Retrospect Server 5.0.238 -Driver Pack 3.6 **Storage Device Config:** Sony's AIT-3 Autoloader, model LIB-D81 My situation is this: With the Adaptec 1.1.0 driver from July 2002 installed, Retrospect is able to find and backup to the StorStation. However, under these conditions, the verification process results in thousands of Bad Backup Header errors. I have contacted Dantz tech support, and their suggestion was to update my Adaptec drivers to version 1.2. Upon completing this, Retrospect becomes a victim to the infinitely spinning disc. The program enters the disc spinning upon any attempt at contacting the StorStation. To remedy this situation, I have followed various SCSI troubleshooting tips on the Support site (e.g., replaced the SCSI cable, replaced the media, moved the device to another machine with the identical configuration). Nothing has worked. An interesting note: regardless of the combination of drivers, SCSI cables, or machines used, the Autoloader does appear on the Apple System Profiler Device Listing. Short of replacing the $300 SCSI card or the $5500 StorStation, does anyone have any suggestions?? Or, is replacing one/both of these "links in the chain" the answer? I'm all ears:) -BP
RogerLee
I origionally had the same issue with a Storstation model LIB-162 and played the same game, 2 different xserves, 2 different G4's, aha-39160 as well as an ATTO card. I could go through all of the steps but if you're where I was at, I would'nt want to put you through that either. In the end, I had Sony send me an updated firmware revision on my Storstation and all seemed to function fine since. You may want to do the same. bpepper
It turned out to be a SCSI card compatibility issue. I'd suggest anyone trying to attempt this device in OSX in the future use the ATTO UL3S or UL3D card.. they worked like a charm! -BP
