Greg Mills
Hello all, We have recently purchased a new XServe and backup solution, but we cannot get it working. Equipment: Xserve running OSX v10.2.6, Retrospect v5.0.xxx , RDU v3.6, fitted with an Atto EPCI UL3S-66 SCSI card firmware rev. 1.0.1F3. Tape drive is a Lacie re-badged Sony LIB81 library. Problem: Tape library is recognised by Retrospect but when tapes are inserted into the loader the loader menu shows them by the slot number, then “????”. The empty slots are identified by their numbers only. The device window reports “no media available” even if one of the populated slots is selected, either via the loader menu in Retrospect or by the loader front panel. Consequently, when a backup is run, Retrospect brings up a media request window and stops. We have tried erasing the media and scanning all media but cannot get the tapes to be recognised. We have also tried setting the SCSI ID of the drive and loader to 3 and 6 respectively. I have searched these forums and found several posts regarding tape libraries, but no solution to our problem. Any suggestions? Thanks
