Cbarnhorst
I use Backpack USB 2.0 dvd writer with no problems on a Win98 computer. When I hook it up to a WinXP Pro computer (I have two) and attempt to have Retrospect (6.5.283) configure a driver the system crashes the instant I choose "Configure." The same function in Win98 works great. Any fixes?
Mayoff
Please start by downloading 6.5.319 along with the latest RDU for Retrospect from dantz.com/updates.
Cbarnhorst
OK, 6.5.319 and the latest rdu are installed. Unfortunately, nothing changed. I attempt to configure the NEC1100 dvd drive and the system instantly goes to a blue screen and then in a moment reboots.
Mayoff
If you have direct CD or other CD software active, try disabiling it.
Cbarnhorst
I ran msconfig, hid all Microsoft services, unchecked all the remaining services, rebooted, and then tried to configure the Microsolutions DVD ReWriter again. The system still crashed. I copied the resulting mini-dump file and it is available, although I cannot read it. I forwarded the mini-dump file to Microsoft Support to the specialist who is working on the question also. I can forward it to you also if it will help.
