Grado
Guys, I've been running 6.0 on an Asus P4T533c i850E for about 6 months without any issues. I've recently built a new machine and bought the 6.5 upgrade. The new board is an Abit IC7G, i875 with ICH5R southbridge. Win XP Pro, SP1. Anyway, trying to detect my backup devices connected and 6.5 quits to the desktop. Repeatable. Any ideas would be appreciated. Grado
Mayoff
Check the assert_log.utx file in the Retrospect preferences folder. Is it getting any new errors? Does the Windows event log show an error?
Grado
Mayoff, Thanks for the reply ........ but the logs are silent! Have your labs tested any i875 mobo's? I have just done some quick folder duplications (3GB) that worked fine, both to and from the ICH5R RAID drives. What next? thanks, Grado
Mayoff
I don't think we have tested with that mother board.
Grado
Mayoff, Ok, I've tracked it down to an issue with the ICH5R when running 2 Western Digital Raptors in SATA RAID 0 ..... the Intel Application Accelerator RAID edition V3. If I disable the RAID option the BIOS, by default the IAA won't load. 6.5 then works ok with no quitting to the desktop. There is also an on-board Silicon Image SATA RAID which is fine. So what am I suposed to do now? I can't use this piece of software for doing backups ...... The ICH5R was the reason to build this system and so somewhat defeats the object! The Intel i875 is the new, high end desktop solution supporting HT, 800MHz FSB, Dual channel DDR 400 etc. Yoy will need to fix this for sure. I would like to be able to use this asap. thanks, Grado

Mayoff
We had a report that a new version of the Intel Application Accelerator was released recently that improves stability with Retrospect
