RProUser
I just upgraded to 6.5, from 6.0. The install went fine. But I noticed that running my first 6.5 backup, using my existing 6.0 settings, is going to result in a pretty big backup. It's not a complete backup of my whole system, about 28gigs out of 37gigs, but way more than the 1gig or so that I've been backing up with once a week backups on 6.0. I thought 6.5 would continue the incremental backups from my 6.0 setup. I'd really rather not start over backing up most of my system since I'm burning to dvd-r's. I also noticed that when I tried to create a new disaster recovery cd that 6.5 said it couldn't use my 6.0 backup set and to use another from version 5.6 or later. :-) Many thanks for any help on these! Mayoff
What operating system is the backup computer install on? Is this a local or client backup? What is the client system version? What file systems are being used on the disks?
RProUser
I'm using WinXP Home with sp1, an NTFS file system, Retrospect Pro 6.5.276 and I'm not on a network.
AmyJ
We are currently investigating a few different reports of this occuring, and the circumstances under which it occurs. In the meantime, you may want to take this opportunity to start a new backup set. Once a backup has completed in 6.5, matching will work correctly ongoing. Mayoff
We have created the following knowlgebase document for this issue: http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27951
RProUser
Ugh, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this since I was using dvd-r's and didn't want to have to start all over again. Oh well, many thanks for your reply.
RProUser
Oh, forgot to mention that if there is a problem with the disaster recovery cd creation also, if one has upgraded to 6.5 and is trying to create a DR cd from a 6.0 backup set, you might want to update that new knowledgebase document concerning this also. BTW, is there a problem with the registration server? I've tried the last few days to register via the email button, but it keeps telling me that the email registration failed and to try again. Mayoff
Email registration would fail if your server requires authentication to send an email using SMTP. We don't have a "registration server", sending in a registration basically sends us an email via SMTP.
