Can't Burn to CD-R on Yamaha CDR 400t

I can't get Retrospect Express 4.3c to burn backups to my Yamaha CDR 400t external drive, even though it is listed as a compatible drive.

 

Retrospect goes through the entire backup procedure, asking for new CD's when one has been filled...everything seems to be going along greatly, until it comes time for verification. On verification, Retrospect lists each of the discs to which it has backed-up information as "erased."

When I check the files in a CD drive there doesn't seem to be anything on them. They have been written-to however and can't be used. There just isn't anything on them.

 

All is working with a Macintosh 8600/200 PowerPC upgraded to a G3 300.
