brtanaka Posted April 2, 2002 Report Share Posted April 2, 2002 I'm using an external Maxtor 80GB Firewire drive to backup my large Macintosh manager files (over 2 GB). I formatted the drive using the Mac OS Extended format using the Maxtor Firewire utility program. After the format completes, the drive shows up as being locked and it doesn't allow me to write or backup to it. On the drive itself, is a Read Me file that says that I need at least OS 8.0 or newer. I'm stumped here and don't know what going on. I'm following the exact instructions on the Dantz knowledgebase on how to backup files exceeding the 2GB limit. Any suggestions is appreciated. Thanks!!
