The best way to "backup the backup" is to create redundant (multiple) backup from the beginning. As that won't solve your existing quandary, read on:

How to copy a tape or disk within Retrospect for Mac

Retrospect has a feature called Backup Set Transfer which will allow you to copy all of the data files from one backup set onto a different backup set.

The option can be found under Tools>Copy>Transfer.

The transfer option on the Macintosh version of Retrospect only copies the Snapshots to the catalog file, and does not save the transferred snapshots to the backup media.

The transfer option on the Windows version of Retrospect will transfer all snapshots from all of the members in the source backup set. Current snapshots will be copied to the catalog file, while older snapshots will be transferred to the destination media, and can be accessed using the "add snapshot" feature.

The backup set transfer feature requires two backup devices. One for the source media, and one for the destination media.

If you are using an Autoloader with more than one drive, then Retrospect can perform a backup set to backup set transfer automatically, making a copy of your backup set on a new backup set. If your loader only has a single drive, then you will not be able to the transfer unless you have another drive that you can attach.

More details can be found in Chapter 9 of the Retrospect User's Guide.
