Able to use any tape for a scheduled backup?

I have downloaded version 6.5 of Retrospect Pro to backup 3 PC's including one PC acting as the backup server. Professional looks like a good package apart from one aspect - selecting which tape can be used for any given scheduled backup. I am not in the office everyday so other members of staff not used to the system will need to change over the tapes.

What I would like to do, in a similar way to something like Arcserve, would be to set up the scheduled backup job and that night put in the backup tape (ie any backup tape) to be used on that session.

What I am finding is that on setting up a backup job I am required to tell the system in advance which tape to look for.

I thought I was making progress with v6.5 as it let me add additional tapes to a backup set however if I try to use the 'additional' tape it seems to close off the earlier tape and act as though it is missing. (My idea was to add all my tapes to one backup set and then be able to use whichever one was to hand).

Sorry this is longwinded. What I want to be able to do seems straightforward to me however I need to know whether Retrospect is made to be able to do this.

Thank you

Retrospect 6.5 will allow you to 'add' tape members to backup sets. However, a tape cannot be a member of multiple backup sets - it can only be a member of one backup set.

In smaller environments, many customers find the 5-day rotation schedule helpful:

Backup sets are named after the days of the week - making it easy to remember which tape to use on which day. If prompted for the next tape (Please insert a new tape. It will be named xxxx), the user need only to put in a blank tape to make it the next member.
