Problems with recognizing blank media with autoconfigured drive

Recommended Posts

I have a Samsung CDRW/DVD 348B Combo drive. I just upgraded to Professional 6.5 and it was successfuly able to autoconfigure the drive using write method 2. The driver name appears in Retrospect as

Vendor: Samsung

Product: CDRW/DVD SM-348B

Version: T506

Driver: Samsung CD-R - RDI (TAO) (1.55)

When I try and do a test backup with verification using a local drive (about 190mb), it requests a blank media. I insert the blank media (same type it used for verification testing) and under the Status tab it says:

Device: Samsung CD-R - RDI (TAO) (Unknown)

Status: Unknown Status

Location: SCSI 1:0

There is also a little pencil icon with a line through it next to the (Unknown) and the property tab says its locked. I have tried different media and it does the same thing each time.

The drive is an ATAPI drive, not a SCSI drive. I assume that SCSI 1:0 is for an internal ATAPI drive. I also have a Yamaha CD-RW on a SCSI card that works just fine.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

Any help appreciated!
