How to configure my VXA Autopack 10 ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm using Retrospect 6.0 with Windows 2000 Server.

My VXA Autopack 1x10 is connected to my server with a SCSI card.

Retrospect see the drive and the library of my VXA but disjointed, then the drive cannot load the tapes from the library.

In the Windows Control Pannel, the Drive of the VXA is recognize as "ECRIX VXA-1 SCSI sequential device" but the library is recognize as "Unknown Medium Changer Device". Is it normal ?

Thank for your help.

Is it properly installed? Check your Operations Log to ensure it is loading. The log should look something like this:

Retrospect version 6.0.206

Launched at 5/7/2003 8:42 AM

Retrospect Driver Update, version 3.8.106

While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Environment and list Vendor, Product and Version for your drive and loader.

What are the SCSI ID's for each?

Try temporarily removing the Retrospect configuration files (config60, config60.bak) from:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect

Launch Retrospect, enter your license code and check Configure > Devices. If the drive still shows up disconnected, try the following troubleshooting:

Download a new copy of the RDU to ensure your copy is not corrupted.

Update/reinstall your SCSI card drivers.

Another device on your SCSI bus may be interfering with the tape drive's communication. Turn off your computer and the devices. Disconnect all SCSI devices except for the tape drive.

You may have a bad cable. Replace the SCSI cable that connects the tape drive to the computer after removing other devices and cables from the SCSI chain.

The last device and ONLY the last device in your SCSI chain needs to be terminated. Try replacing the terminator if you already have one on the chain.

The computer may be having a problem. Install Retrospect on another computer and try the tape drive there as the lone device on the SCSI chain.
