nexus
problem here is that the abovementioned autoloader on a win2k server running Retrospect 6 multiserver, everynow and then hasn't got a clue to what tapes it has and whether there is a tape in the actual drive or not, and therefore sit there with a stupid look on its face (guessing thats what its face looks like) A) is there a way to perform an auto inventry as a script before normal backup scripts or ideally is there a solution to stop this from happening at all. any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance
AmyJ
Overland tabletop LXL810 - I can't find this drive on the supported device list. While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Environment and list Vendor, Product and Version for your drive and loader.

AmyJ
Found it - this library has been supported for many years. What events preceeded this happening? Was a backup occuring? Were the tapes changed? Are you unloading the magazine while Retrospect is open? Some libraries require Retrospect to be quit when changing out tapes. You may also need to use the Scan Media button under Configure > Devices after you change tapes. When this happens, do you see library slots and the drive under Configure > Devices? If you go to Configure > Devices > Environment, are devices visible using NT Passthough or ASPI? Update/reinstall the SCSI card drivers The library should be isolated and properly terminated on the SCSI chain
