vdykstra
I have upgraded to Retro. 5 Workgroup on an OS 9.1 network running ASIP 6.3.3, backing up the server only. We have been using Retro. 4 for many years so I know my setup is correct in 5. I can't get Auto launch to actually launch unless I have Retrospect active. Does anyone have any suggestions? We have it set to auto run a script at night when all uses are at home sleeping. It then Quits Retrospect. The reason we have upgraded (even though we hesitated because of all the problems with 5) is because we our servers are freezing with first log in about every 12 days. We haven't been able to come up with a solution to this problem so I'm trying 5 to see if it ileviates that "memory?" problem. However now 5 won't auto launch!!! Any help is greatly appreciated. AmyJ
All scheduled Retrospect operations are handles by the Retro.Startup extension in your System Folder. If this file is missing or damaged, it can interfere or prevent scheduled scripts from launching. To recreate the Retro.Startup file, quit Retrospect, delete the file (located at System Folder - Extensions) and restart the computer. Now launch and quit Retrospect, then restart the Mac again. This will produce a fresh copy of Retro.Startup.
vdykstra
Thank you Amy. I have tried that with no results. I will try it again tomorrow, but have tried it with 2 separate machines on several different occasions. Any other solutions? I thought the 5.xx update was suppose to address the auto launch issue (which tells me other people out there must be having this problem.) I also have one other issue with Retrospect 4 or 5 not seeing a LaCie DDS3 drive as the correct size tape capacity. It reads the tapes as 2GB tapes and should be reading them as 24GB compressed or 12 GB non compressed. Any ideas on this one? It is running through ultra-SCSI, and I have tried putting the driver updates out there.
AmyJ
Quote: I thought the 5.xx update was suppose to address the auto launch issue (which tells me other people out there must be having this problem.) ? What autoluanch issue? There were some issues in OS X Jaguar when using a version of Retrospect that is not supported in Jaguar. I'm not aware of any issues in OS 9. Quote: It reads the tapes as 2GB tapes and should be reading them as 24GB compressed or 12 GB non compressed. Retrospect only estimates the size. The tape size can be changed by the user under Configure > Backup Sets > Configure > Options > Capacity.
