gakenny
Hello, I am a new user to Retrospect v6.0 Professional running on Windows XP. I am having problems writing to CD-RW media. I attempt to blank the media and after 30 minutes or so, Retrospect responds with 'Retrospect is unable to configure your drive' and I am unable to write to the drive using the media. Is there an issue using this application on Windows XP? Many thanks, Gary Kenny
AmyJ
Retrospect is fully compatible with Windows XP. Make sure you are using name brand, quality media for the configurator such as TDK, Sony or Verbatim. Regarding device support, Dantz goes through a rigorous qualification process with every drive we test. This means that not every drive will be qualified and we can never guarantee that a particular device will be supported. For this reason, we've provided the auto configurator which can, in many situations, build a drivers for CD burners. If your drive does has not been qualified to work with Retrospect, and a driver cannot be built by the configurator, you will not be able to use this drive with Retrospect. For a list of supported drives, please see www.dantz.com/hardware
rccline
I have a Dell Precision 340 with Phillips DVD +RW 28. I have flashed the DVD (the past week) with the current driver 1.5.3 and retrospect fails to acknowledge the drive. Local tests from the machine indicate the drive is OK. I can use Roxio Easy CD Creator Platinum to create DVDs. When I try to backup, Retrospect reports that the drive is incompatable. I am using K-Hypermedia DVD+R and DVD+RW data/vidio disk 4.7GB which works with the Roxio software. Any suggestions? Thanks. Robert
AmyJ
While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Environment and list Vendor, Product and Version for your drive.
gakenny
Hello Amy, We are using branded media (and have tried two alternatives - both fresh CD-RW's). The error message occurs after the application takes 30-40 minutes to prepare the CD. It is consistent in displaying this message. I will do some further investigation when I return to the office and report here. Kind regards, Gary Kenny
gakenny
Hello, As an update, the device is a Diamond Data CD-RW 48x48x16. The error occurs while trying to configure the device. It appears that the device is not supported by Retrospect as it is not listed as compatable. Cheers, Gary Kenny
