ranvest Posted April 27, 2003 Report Share Posted April 27, 2003 I am posting this information for anyone who might be using Retrospect Backup with Roxio Easy CD-DVD Creator 6 and a Sony DRU-500AX DVD drive. I recently installed Retrospect Backup V.6 and I attempted to identify my backup devices. I was unable to recognize the Sony DRU-500AX and I received a message that Retospect was unable to gain access to the device because a program or process was using it. I updated my device drivers to 3.7 and made another attempt to recognize the drive to no avail. Upon further reflection I remembered that Easy CD-DVD Creator installs an applet to detect activity on the CD and DVD drives. Once I turned this applet off I was able to detect the Sony drive through Restrospect with no problem. So far I haven't observed any downsides to not running the Roxio applet, but I will post a new message if I find any issues with this workaround.
