kevin_mnh
hey! i have several tapes that i need to write over. for some reason they are coming up as locked/write protected tapes. they are all Sony SDX-25C AIT tapes. the locking tabs are all set to "Record", not "Safe". the reason i need to write over these is b/c they were running on a drive doing recycled back-ups. i upgraded the drive to accept higher capacity AIT2 tapes. i don't need to use these tapes on that drive anymore. i would like to use them on another drive, but all of my drives are saying they are write protected. help?!?!?!? carvin
I've got the same problem. Retrospect 5.0.238, Advanced Driver 3.5.104, Macintosh OS 9.2. Brand new DLT IV tapes work great. Any tape taken from a SCO Unix or Win2000 Server shows up as locked. **Error 211 media locked** Long and short erases don't unlock the tape. Erasing the tape under Win2k or SCO doesn't unlock them. It seems that any tape (I'm using Fuji Film) that has been used for another OS backup can not be used with Retrospect. I saw the post in OS X that the same is true there as well. All opinions welcome! macm(AT)carvin.com
