Retrospect takes an hour to "quit

After performing a backup, I try to get Retrospect to Exit, but it just sits there, sometimes as long as an hour. I think it is trying to do some preparation for the next scheduled backup, because sometimes -- like an hour later -- it'll pop up a message asking me if I want to "test" the backup media.

This can't be normal. The same operation takes SECONDS in the Mac version of Retrospect.

Is there a beta available that corrects some of these defects?

Best Regards,

Stephen

What OS? What type of backup media are you writing to?

If backing up to hard drive in Windows XP:

If you are using a File backup set, try a Disk backup set instead for writing to hard drive. See next if problems persist.

Windows XP has a "System Restore" feature turned on by default. To increase backup stability try turn off "System Restore" from System Properties for "all drives" by going to: Control Panels > System > System Restore.

I had this same problem. Turning off System Restore for the drive on which I was storing my File backup cured it (it was somewhat exacerbated by the fact that the drive in question is an external USB 2.0-attached drive, so whatever System Restore was trying to do was just that much slower).
