sankerbrand
Hi, Have been experiencing file server crashes (using ASIP) ever since we installed Retro 5 about 6 months ago on our G4 server. We've not had a consistent back-up since! The server crashes when Retrospect autolaunches. Sometimes it works for a week or two but inevitably, it brings the server down eventually. I found Article ID: 26688 about this problem "Dantz has been investigating several problems that customers have reported when backing up an AppleShare IP server with Retrospect 5.0. Reported problems include: 1) The ASIP server crashes when Retrospect 5.0 autolaunches or is launched from an alias. 2) The ASIP server crashes at the beginning of a backup with the Retrospect 5.0 client. 3) Retrospect returns "error 1 (unknown)" for some files backed up from an ASIP server with the Retrospect 5.0 client." Are there any workarounds for this problem yet -- beside upgradign to Mac OS X server? Thanks, sankerbrand
sankerbrand
I'd like to add an addendum to my previous message ... Retrospect immediately freezes the file server when it is launched now so I'm not having problems with just autolaunch. I just trashed the preferences and the application and reinstalled the program, which has fixed the problem before, but not this time.
