scrognoid
I broke down and bought v6.0, even though I already own (the expensive) v5.15, so I could use my new TDK veloCD drive. Retrospect wants a CD-RW disk to configure. I don't have a CD-RW disk on hand (I have CD-Rs). Please tell me I will be able to use CD-R after I Configure. AmyJ
Once the drive has been configured with CD-RW you'll be able to use CD-R media. However, if this is a supported drive you don't need to use the Auto Configurator. While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Environment and list Vendor, Product and Version for your drive. AmyJ
This drive requires Retrospect 6.0 and Retrospect Driver Update 3.6.104 or higher for support. Driver updates can be downloaded from: http://www.dantz.com/en/support/updates.dtml
scrognoid
Beautiful. Thanks. One last question: can I mix CD-R and CD-RW disks in the same backup set? My idea is to do the initial full backup on CD-R, then use CD-RW for weekly incremental backups, hoping to generate about new disks per year, instead of 52. AmyJ
Yes - you can switch between CD-R and CD-RW in a backup set.
