strouds
With my new Ecrix VXA, I have some increased capacity I'm trying to exploit. So I'm revising my backup schedules and have a question. My network volume is about 8-10 MG, and the tapes "hold" 33 MG plus. Here's what I'm considering, and then I have a question about whether it will function as I'm intending. Part of this is motivated by the fact I currently only have 4 tapes to work with, tho' more are getting ordered. I'm creating schedules for each weekday, Mon - Fri that do complete backups (previously I couldn't get everything on my 4 MG DAT). I have separate schedules Backup Monday, Backup Tues, etc. that backup everything. I was planning to have 1 tape designated as the Friday schedule tape, that'll only be used on Friday's and eventually archived on a schedule. I was then hoping to just rotate the other 3 tapes through the other days of the week with a destination that is "Network Backup" for all the Mon - Thurs schedules. My question is whether each tape during the week will end up as "complete" with the incremental that occurs each day. Is this making sense? TIA for your insights,
AmyJ
Quote: My question is whether each tape during the week will end up as "complete" with the incremental that occurs each day. Each tape will need to belong to it's own backup set in order to accomplish this. Eg: Network Backup 1, Network Backup 2, Network Backup 3.
