crackpot
I just did low-level reformats of my two external hard drives, and now want to restore on those HD's the files I backed up (I'm using Retrospect v. 4.3 with Mac 9.0.4). I don't want the new extra folder Retrospect creates on my destination volume (the one at the top of the hierarchy which is named after the storage set). Is there a way to avoid creating this extra folder? Or, alternately, can I drag this extra folder to my desktop, then drag all the files which were inside this folder back onto the destination volume, without encountering any directory problems later, etc.? Thanks.
OnnoD
Hey Crackpot, When you restore to the external HD using the "Restores Files from a Backup Option" choose "Replace Corresponding Files" or even "Replace entire Disk" (only if the external HD is completely empty" option while selecting the destination. Choosing "Retrieve files & folders "or just fiels, will give you the folder with the backupset name the other two options will not.
crackpot
Onno, Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately the same thing happened when I tried what you suggested. I selected "Restore From a Backup", then "Replace Existing Files and Folders," and it is still creating an extra folder within my destination volume. I then tried using "Search for Files and Folders" option, choosing one particular folder, and Retrospect create two extra folders. I'm stumped. If you or anyone else has any ideas, or a comment about my alternative idea of dragging back and forth to and from the desktop, I'd appreciate the help.
