AmyJ Posted March 18, 2003 Report Share Posted March 18, 2003 Drives that have similar inquiry strings (or the same inquiry string) as a supported drive can show up in the Device Status (Mac) or Environment (Win) window. Also, drives that require OS drivers only can show up. An example would be a combo drive that supports DVD-RAM and DVD-R media. Retrospect will write to the drive as a DVD-RAM device, even if the DVD-R format is not supported. DVD-RAM devices require OS drivers - not Retrospect drivers. Does this apply to Tape Libraries as well, or just CD type media? I'm trying to find out if a Sun StorEdge L1800 (aka ETL 4/1800) will work at all. The manual says that the "host computer communicates with the library through a SCSI interface using the SCSI-2 medium changer command set. " Does anyone know if that means Retrospect can have basic control of this device and use it, or if its not qualified is it totally unusable by Dantz software? For a list of currently qualified devices, please see: Hardware Search Engine Dantz goes through a rigorous qualification process with every drive we test. This means that not every drive will be qualified and we can never guarantee that a particular device will be supported. Some drives do not get qualified ever, and some take 6 months to a year to get support. We have no way of telling if this drive will be supported or not at this moment.
