Guest
I have been successfully running Retrospect 4.3 with Retrospect Clients on an OS9.2 G4, backing up the G4 as well as a networked iMac and G3 Powerbook (both running OS9) and a networked iBook running OSX (using the beta OSX client, which will expire in a few days). Back up has been to an Onstream 30GB ADR firewire tape drive. Now that version 5.0 is out, do I need to upgrade both Retrospect and Clients to 5.0, or is there a new OSX client that I can use with version 4.3? I noticed in some online info that the Onstream USB tape drive won't work with version 5.0--if I have to upgrade to 5.0, will the firewire tape drive work? Thank you! --Anne
IrenaS
The Onstream drive doesn't work under OS X, but if you're running in OS 9, 5.0 will work with that drive just fine. You'll want to upgrade everything to 5.0; clients and application. You may be best off upgrading to the Workgroup edition, which gives you the option to add up to 20 clients. The 5.0 application can still be run on your OS 9 machine.
