dubberman
Hi, I have recently updated from version 6.1 to 8. I can't find a way to restore from my old Snapshots. Any clues? Can I add retrospect snapshot files to "Past backups" or how can I make it work? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks - Eggert
Daniels
Unfortunately currently 8.1 can not read 6.1 backup sets so restoring is not possible. This is supposed to be fixed when the 8.2 beta comes out in hopefully the next two weeks.
rhwalker
I have recently updated from version 6.1 to 8.I can't find a way to restore from my old Snapshots. Any clues? Daniels is right on, here. While you really should have done this before you upgraded to Retrospect 8.1, you might now want to step back and read the "Retrospect 8.1 Read Me". Here is the link: Retrospect 8.1 Read Me Known issues with this release Retrospect 8.1 cannot import configurations or read Backup Sets from versions 6.x or earlier. Clients will need to be added, and scripts will need to be scheduled anew with version 8.1. However, Retrospect 8.1 does not overwrite/remove Retrospect 6.x or earlier editions during the installation process, so users who need to count on restores from legacy Backup Sets can simply maintain their previous installation of Retrospect. Users who choose to do so should ensure that the previous version’s schedules are disabled, so that two versions of Retrospect are not trying to back up the same computers or control the same device simultaneously. As Daniels mentions, a beta release of Retrospect 8.2 is expected later this quarter century ("real soon, now"), and is rumored to be able to read Retrospect 6.x backup sets. I suggest that you just wait. If you need to retrieve files from the Retrospect 6.x backup set, then you need to reinstall Retrospect 6.x (if you have uninstalled it) to retrieve files from those older backup sets. Make sure that you disable the Retrospect 8 engine (use the preference pane, f/k/a/ control panel, to do this) when running Retrospect 6 or else you may run into problems, and, likewise, quit Retrospect 6 before restarting the Retrospect 8 engine. alabay
Well, I haven't found out a way to restore a 6'er pack from a remote backup file in 8.2 either. I gave up. No chance. Of course the catalogue file is "in" that file, nowhere else ... Oh my God!
