Script Help

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I've looked thru all of the documentation but I'm stumped. Can anyone tell me how to create a script using two External drives, labeled WEEK1 and WEEK2. I want the script to back up the same data but can't seem to see how to tell the script to skip a week then write to the WEEK2. Like backup everyother week? I did this with 6.0 of retrospect but how do I do this in 8.0?

Thanks in Advance.

To alternate weeks in a script you need to go to the schedule option for that script and change the repeat every week value to 2 instead of 1 for each data set. The value will not change unless you press the Tab key after entering the value due to a bug in the console.

Once sources and backup sets have been chosen follow these steps:

1. Click on the schedule tab.

2. Click the plus button to create a new schedule.

3. Choose Week1 under destination.

4. Choose a media action if desired. defualt is no action.

5. Select a starting date.

6. Set a starting time.

7. Make sure "repeat every" menu is set to weekly.

8. Enter 2 in "repeat every ___ week(s)" field and press the Tab key.

9. Select the days you want the script to run.

10. Choose when done from the stop menu.

11. Repeat for Week2 set.

If you follow these steps correctly the script will alternate between the sets each week.
