bisigimpact
When Retrospect is matching files, does it do so only within a volume, or within a backup set? For example, if two computers in the same backup set have the same file, does Retrospect backup both of these files, or just one? I'm using Retrospect Single Server 7.6. Thanks! Lennart_T
Just one. HOWEVER, different versions of Windows have its own set of metadata for the file and that may cause Retrospect to think the each file is unique and the file is backed up twice. Lennart_T
Retrospect uses several matching criteria to find new or changed files. If one of the criteria has been changed, Retrospect will back up the file again. On Windows, Retrospect looks at creation date and time, modified date and time, size and name. If match only in same location option is set, Retrospect matches on the path, volume name and drive letter also. By default, the archive attribute is not used as a matching criteria in Windows, allowing for true and reliable backups to multiple backup sets.
