dirky
Hi, I have a client who has bought Professional and I've attempted to setup an archive backup. Essentially there are 4 external hard drives, Disk 1 remains connected from Monday through Sunday An archive backup job is set to run in the evening each day. On the Monday morning the disk is removed and Disk 2 is connected, the idea was for the archive backups to continue on this disk. Disk 1 could then be taken off site. All disks are part of the same backup set. What is happening is that when it comes to run the backup on MOnday evening, it is still asking for Disk 1 from the set? Am I missing something here? Thanks D
Mayoff
You must create a different backup set for each backup disk and schedule them to run on specific days.
dirky
Thanks Robin. How would I schedule that to go back to Disk 1 (which is essentially Backup Set A) after it has finished with Disk 4 (Backup Set D) ? D
Daniels
You need to set the schedule to repeat every 4 weeks so it will start over with A after D. Your script would be repeat the following every 4 weeks: week 1 use set A, week 2 use Set B, week 3 use set C, week 4 use set D. I have nearly the exact setup where I cycle through my backup sets every 4 weeks.
dirky
Great thanks. It's making sense now. I notice that it wants to move from Set A to Set B etc on Sunday rather than Monday. Monday was the morning I anticipated changing the disk over for the next one. Is there some option to start the week on a Monday or am I missing something? Thanks again D
Daniels
If you are going switch on Mondays you could just skip Sundays all together. I have my schedule set up to do incrementals Monday through Thursday with a full backup on Friday and skip Saturday and Sunday.
