sweetpea
I am testing Retrospect for Mac and got it to backup the Mac just fine. Now, I'm now trying to set up a client to the VMFusion virtual disk on same drive (it's Windows 7). The client software is loaded on Windows 7 and I've tested the IP addresses on both Mac and Win7 sides successfully. When I add a source in Retrospect, using the IP address for the Windows7 virtual disk, it presents a dialog box to enter the IP address and a password. What I can't figure out is what password to put in. I've already tried the password for my Administrative login on the Win7 side, that did not work. There isn't a separate Administrator login on Window7, like there used to be on Windows XP. So what is it asking for? Thank you for your patience with me. Lennart_T
It is the password you entered into the client installer when you installed the Retrospect client software.
sweetpea
This reply was sufficient to solve my problem. I never was asked for a password, so I uninstalled the Client and reinstalled it, and DID get a request for password this time (obviously I did not install it correctly the first time!). I now have the backup executing properly for the Windows 7 virtual disk. THANK YOU!
