marcls
Hi all, I'm running Windows 7 on two machines, a 32-bit dell laptop and a 64-bit HP desktop. In both cases, I'm running Computer Associates anti virus version 8.1 and Retrospect Professional 7.7.325. For several days, everything will operate normally. But, suddenly the anti virus program won't be able to download updated virus signatures; and Retrospect will report in its operations log that the back up destination, which had been fine, has become corrupted. Retrospect will "hang" and I'll have to stop the execution. Can anyone provide a clue about what's going on -- I note sereral posts about similar behavior with Norton Anti Virus. Is this a characteristic of Retrospect 7.7 or does this behavior occur with all versions of Retrospect 7? Thanks, Marc
Daniels
I have no problems with Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 and Retrospect 7.6 on Windows 2000 Server. You might also want to schedule the virus definitions for a time after the backup is complete or before the backup begins. I have Symantec download the virus definitions between 8:30 and 9:30 PM and then have the backup usually start at 9:30 PM. Every so often my backup starts at 5:30 PM and in a few cases Symantec and the backup overlap and Retrospect only throws up a file not found error.
