blank
Quantum superloader 3 ( scsi ) Mac osx server 10.5.8 Retrospect stopped a job cause of a lost access to storage medium error while comparing data. It's a classic since version 6, I've changed any single chunk of hardware since and the bug persist from time to time. Usually everything is fine and there is no further issues following that error but this time the tape that was in the drive at the moment of the error has no more name (labelled as unknown) and when I run that backup script the job simply disapear on a screen refresh without writting anything in the logs ( awesome ). Repair fucntion is doing the same So, before I start flaming on the phone is there something stupid I am missing here ?
CallMeDave
Retrospect stopped a job cause of a lost access to storage medium error while comparing data. It's a classic since version 6, Retrospect "Classic" and Retrospect 8 are entirely different applications, so while its certainly possible that it's a software defect present in both, there is also the possibility that both programs loose access to your storage media because the storage media is flaky. Quantum superloader 3 ( scsi )Mac osx server 10.5.8 That's quite a bare bones description; perhaps you'd be willing to provide more complete hardware and software details? I've changed any single chunk of hardware Readers cannot know the methodology of your hardware replacement; is everything new at this point? blank
What I'm telling is since version 6 retrospect is loosing access to storage medium on every setup I know using a superloader 3 and atto scsi card ( pci e or x ) and mac osx 10.5. That's what I call a classic bug. It has nothing to do with the hardware and the medium since it's happenning 1 time on 3 since 2 years and I changed my setup completly ( new server new card new cable new tape deck new everyhting ) So now my question is : Is there a way to tell retrospect 8 that this unknow media is supposed to be linked to a media set ? that's it
