adept
I just purchased the full version (3-client version) of Retrospect 8 and need to restore from or convert my file backups from my old computer. They are large file backups on a firewire drive with separate ".cat" files for each. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to do this and cannot find instructions in the support documentation. If anyone could give me a quick description of how to get Retrospect 8 to see my Retrospect 5 file backups and restore from them or convert them to a new format if necessary, I would appreciate it very much! Maser
Retrospect 8 can not (at this point) read from older formats. You'll have to use a copy of Retrospect 6 to do this. EMC is working on an update that may contain the ability to read from older formats. If so, this update is supposed to be available sometime in May
adept
Thanks for the answer, Maser! Can I get a copy of Retrospect 6 to do this conversion, as part of my Retrospect 8 purchase? Since i had not purchased Retrospect since version 5, I did not ask for an upgrade (especially since I don't believe I have access any longer to my original order, customer number etc.) and simply started over with a full-price purchase. Therefore I do not have Retrospect 6 and cannot convert my old backups that I need to get open! On the downloads page for my Retrospect 8 order, only Retrospect 8 is available
Maser
You should probably call customer service for an answer to that question...
