bcort
I had a hard drive failure and tried to use my Retrospect backup to restore from. Now windows will not start. I Followed the disaster recovery instructions and after telling me that the drive had been successfully restored, I was told to reboot the computer. After restarting the computer it only gets as far as the blue welcome screen displaying the windows XP logo. It sits there for a _long_ time (overnight) and then displays the following error message: [color:red]Windows - Delayed Write Failed: Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \Device\HarddiskVolume2\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.[/color] After dismissing the dialog, the computer just sits there on the screen before the login screen. Does anyone know what this error signifies or what should I do about it? Thanks! (Using Retrospect 7.6 on Windows XP)
Mayoff
That error is always a failing hard disk or other hardware issue.
bcort
I found this: http://kb.dantz.com/display/2n/kb/article.asp?aid=5184&n=2&s= Could it be related to restoring SP3 over SP2? (I installed XP SP2 from the CD and didn't apply SP3 before doing the restore).
