profbiebergmail.com
I last backed up a windows 7 user directory two months ago. Then the computer broke, we got a new one, and I now want to restore the user directory. My scripts and storage devices are on a MacbookPro running Retrospect 8.1.626 The windows machine doesn't show up in the first-level Restore function dialog: "Where do you want to restore from? Select a point-in-time from which to restore" list of backups. However if I click on the "More Backups..." button in that 1st-level dialog, the windows directory I want does show up as a Name several times in the list generated. But when I select one and click "Retrieve" nothing happens. Help!! - Thanks.
CallMeDave
The windows machine doesn't show up in the first-level Restore function dialog: "Where do you want to restore from? Select a point-in-time from which to restore" Should it? Was the machine part of a Script that ran during the Dates listed in the "Select Backup" tab of the Backup/Restore assistant? But when I select one and click "Retrieve" nothing happens. Nothing at all? The drop-down sheet doesn't slide back up? - What Type of Media Sets are they? - Does the Media Set show in the Media Set list? - Are the Members of the Media Set online and available? More info would probably be helpful... Dave
profbiebergmail.com
The windows machine doesn't show up in the first-level Restore function dialog: "Where do you want to restore from? Select a point-in-time from which to restore" Should it? Was the machine part of a Script that ran during the Dates listed in the "Select Backup" tab of the Backup/Restore assistant? JU: Yes, my script backed up 3 sources: 2 are Macintosh computers and the third is a subdirectory on the windows 7 computer. It was listed there and backed up daily. In the "More Backups..." list, for each date until the date the computer crashed it lists the three machines separately, that were backed up together in one script. Here is the end of the activity log for one of the days that I cannot restore from at the end of that Windows volume: ... 2/17/2010 2:03:35 AM: Snapshot stored, 6704 KB 2/17/2010 2:03:37 AM: Comparing [name] *File "/Volumes/[name]/AppData/Roaming/skypePM/2010-02-17-0.ezlog": different data size (set: 2232, vol: 2504) 2/17/2010 2:09:15 AM: 23 execution errors Completed: 499 files, 219.8 MB, with 0% compression Performance: 38.6 MB/minute (38.0 copy, 39.2 compare) Duration: 00:15:00 (00:03:36 idle/loading/preparing) But when I select one and click "Retrieve" nothing happens. Nothing at all? The drop-down sheet doesn't slide back up? JU: Yes the drop-down sheet slides back up again, but then in the main "Where do you want to restore from? Select a point-in-time from which to restore" screen does not show the backup I just selected on the drop-down sheet. Also the Continue button is inactive. - What Type of Media Sets are they? JU: I use the same media set for the entire backup. They are 500GB external portable USB drives. - Does the Media Set show in the Media Set list? JU: Yes. - Are the Members of the Media Set online and available? JU: Yes. And in the Media Set itself, it shows 10 .rdb files of various sizes for that particular date of 2/17. More info would probably be helpful... JU: what other information should I provide that would be helpful? JU: Thanks!
