Thomas Drolett
Hi, I was successfully backing up 2 computers with 8.1. After upgrading to 10.6.2 every backup attempt fails with the blinking "tape cartridge" icon. All are reporting "Needs Media". System Setup: I'm using the latest Client software on a G4 tower (10.4) and a MBP (10.63) My server is on the same subnet running 10.6.3. All catalogs are in their default location. Backups are stored on a NAS Share. Attempted remedies: Made sure I have permission to access the NAS share. Verified passwords on the Tower and the MBP. Log: + Normal backup using Proactive MBP at 4/15/2010 10:23 AM To Media Set MBP... - 4/15/2010 10:23:56 AM: Copying Gracie on MBPDrolett > Scanning incomplete, error -519 ( network communication failed) I've had other errors too, such as Can't access Media Set Documents, error -1101 ( file/directory not found) Any suggestions will be appreciated. rhwalker
I was successfully backing up 2 computers with 8.1. After upgrading to 10.6.2 every backup attempt fails with the blinking "tape cartridge" icon. ... Any suggestions will be appreciated. My first suggestion would be to post in the Retrospect 8 for Macintosh forum. Here's the link: Retrospect 8 for Macintosh forum. Although it's not clear from the forum names, this is the Retrospect 6.x for Macintosh forum, which is a very different animal. Solutions for one are not applicable for the other. My second suggestion would be, when you repost in the correct forum, to clarify your Mac OS versions. Your post says that the problem occurred "after upgrading to 10.6.2" yet none of your listed computers are running 10.6.2 (you seem to have one G4 tower running some unknown version of Mac OS 10.4 and running some unknown Retrospect client version, one MBP running Mac OS 10.6.3, and a server (of unknown hardware) running Mac OS 10.6.3 and some unknown version of Retrospect 8.1; unclear also where the Retrospect engine and console are running, or their versions - 8.1.x.x and 8.1.x).
