travlite
I have just pulled my Maxtor external drive out of the closet where it's been for several years...unopened. I am trying to install the Retrospect software for the first time. It is version 1.0.196, which I know is WAY out of date. First question, will it still function? Second question, if yes is the answer to the first...when I click on SETUP in the Welcome window, it does nothing; I've let it 'sit' for an hour. It says 'updating status' and '0 restore points available'. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated! Lisa
rhwalker
I am trying to install the Retrospect software for the first time. It is version 1.0.196, which I know is WAY out of date. First question, will it still function? Yes, if you are installing onto an operating system that was current at the time. Because you haven't provided information about your platform (Windows? Macintosh?) or OS version or flavor of Retrospect (Express, HD Express, or one of the numerous other flavors), it's not even possible to look in the update archives to see what was supported at the time. If you have a later operating system, the the answer would be no, for most definitions of "function". Second question, if yes is the answer to the first...when I click on SETUP in the Welcome window, it does nothing; I've let it 'sit' for an hour. It says 'updating status' and '0 restore points available'. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated! Help is not possible without more information. Also, depending on whether you have Retrospect for Windows or Retrospect for Macintosh, you would have a better chance at getting a useful answer if you posted in the correct forum for your platform. This forum in which you posted is pretty much dead. Russ
