fergusm
Hi, I have 2 backup sets: one to an external HD and one to tape The backups run each night and we "recycle" (we backup everything every night). The last few nights we've been getting an error with our tape set. It will get through most of the backup and then will give an error: Media request for "2-Tape Backup Set" timed out after waiting 1:00:00. The tape has a capacity of 200gb. The total size of the backup (all the data) is around 140gb. My question is, why is Retrospect looking for new media? Thanks, Fergus
Mayoff
The hardware reported to Retrospect that the media was full. It is also possible a media failure caused the prior backup to report itself as full. What does the operations log report? Did you have the backup set configured to use a small percentage of disk space?
rhwalker
Two things to try: (1) new tape - perhaps this tape is bad or old (2) run a cleaning cycle with a cleaning tape. Retrospect might have decided that this tape is giving too many errors, and you need a new tape. Russ
