robek
I am using R8 to backup the local and 3 remote computers. Two of the remote computers are Mac Pros and one is G4/Silverdoor. All remote computers run OSX 10.4.11 and the same version of Retrospect Client, and they should have the same configuration. The strange thing I see and can't correct is that in the list of source volumes for the G4, I see one of the volumes listed twice. All data for both entries is the same. I used refresh. I removed and re-added that computer. No difference. The volume in question is a raid volume but the all of those computers have their main volume as such a raid and the others list correctly. The entry for G4 has also a crossed pencil in front of it for some reason. A snapshot from R8 screen that shows that -- the problem client is Psych E-Server and the duplicated volume is MailRAID:
CallMeDave
I used refresh. I removed and re-added that computer. No difference. Have you restarted the [color:purple]retrorclient[/color] unix daemon on the client machine (or restarted the Mac)? Have you restarted the Retrospect Engine? robek
I restarted both the client computer and the retrospect server computer. Afterwards, the crossed pencil moved to another remote computer in the list. The duplicate volume stays. Clicking refresh after selecting the client brought back the crossed pencil in front of the client computer's name. The duplicate volume remains. After a few minutes, all crossed pencils went away. No change with duplicate volume. I mean it is still duplicated.
CallMeDave
What does the "mount" command show on this duplicating computer?
robek
I presume you refer to the computer that shows with duplicate volume on the R8 server. Here is the output from the mount command on that computer: mailhost:~ admin$ mount /dev/disk3 on / (local, journaled) devfs on /dev (local) fdesc on /dev (union) on /.vol /dev/disk0s10 on /Volumes/MailBackup1 (local, journaled) automount -nsl [184] on /Network (automounted) automount -fstab [189] on /automount/Servers (automounted) automount -static [189] on /automount/static (automounted)
robek
Here is the same info from the disk utility program. It shows clearly the hardware and the raid config. I wonder whether the two volumes I see in R8 are not just the two hard drives of the raid volume. I mean that the PPC client of Retrospect has a bug and does not handle raid volume data correctly (whereas Intel clients work as expected). CallMeDave
I mean that the PPC client of Retrospect has a bug and does not handle raid volume data correctly Certainly a reasonable theory; maybe some other Forum reader can share G4 + Apple Raid 1 experiences. Or maybe Robin can ask QA if this is a tested/supported configuration. Dave
