dstranathan
Just curious - how many of you have Rules to avoid backing up the Microsoft Entourage 2008 user database? I dont backup many end-user workstations (servers mainly) but I do have a couple workstations, and it just dawned on me that Im grabbing the user's Entourage database every night. Totally not needed since all our email data is stored on an Exchange server. Just curious has to what kind of rules you have created to disallow such files. I am considering skipping eveything in the "Office 2008 Identities" folder.
Maser
While we don't use Entourage, I do something similar for our Windows users and don't back up the "outlook.ost" file (but do backup the "archive.pst" files...) You just want to be sure your rules are backing up any *local* mailboxes for people that aren't storing some things in Exchange...
Pforne
Unfortunately, this is impossible for Entourage users since ALL of the Entourage data is stored in a single database. It's all or nothing. :confused2: You just want to be sure your rules are backing up any *local* mailboxes for people that aren't storing some things in Exchange... What I don't know (yet) is if "Office 2011" -- which purports the ability to read a .pst file -- is going to do something similar to Outlook on Windows going forward.
