AcesUp Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 I just updated to 8.1 build 626 and now when I insert requested-for DVDs, the Storage Devices pane does not show it has been inserted and thus does not write anything to it. The Mac knows, because I can use F12 to eject the media. I've tried stopping and restarting the engine and recreating a Custom CD configuration. The latter at least noticed there was a DVD, and spun it up for a bit, but then spun it down and did not continue. I'm on a Mini, 10.5.8 with 3GB of RAM. The Storage Devices pane identifies the optical drive as an Optiarc DVD RW AD-5670S. It's quite annoying to be pestered to update the software and then have it break when I do as it asks.
rhwalker Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Your problem statement is a bit unclear. Did you see this? Optical Media support in Retrospect 8 Russ
AcesUp Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 Ah ha! That was it, I had to re-edit the .ini file to re-enable the optical drive. Thanks for the pointer!
