blank
Retropspect tend to loose contact with my tape library while restoring, writing or comparing data on my tape drive. It stills see the tape drive but not the library. The only way to bring it back is by cold booting the server ( shutdown completly, wait 5 mins and reboot) I had the same kind of behavior with version 6. here's my specs: xserve (latest) leopard 10.5.8 retrospect 8.1 ( build 626 ) Quantum superloader 3 ( lto 3 HH ) ul5d scsi card thx for any hint

You've got the right HBA card (ATTO UL5D), so it's not that. Check your LVD terminators and cables. What SCSI IDs for the tape drive and the library? A poster a while back reported that he was able to resolve this problem by putting the drive at SCSI ID 2 and the library at SCSI ID 5. While that sounds like "voodoo" rubber chicken magic to me, it worked for him, and might seem to indicate noise on the SCSI ID lines (note that 2 and 5 are one's complement of each other). blank
Every chunk of hardware has been changed between retro6 and retro8 ( scsi card cable termination, superloader 3, scsi and server ). I guess my last resort is that vodoo trick thx for the input.
